Dads and Grads
Father's Day is Sunday, June 16th, and the best Dads deserve the best gifts. "Men love to get flowers for the same reason they send them - to be recognized. Everyone likes to feel special." (www.aboutflowers.com). They say that "Men are stimulated by color and are visually oriented. Research shows that men prefer vivid colors such as yellow, orange and red. Flower arrangements that are contemporary, linear styles or natural styles are best. Other favorites might include green or flowering plants." Yardley Florist has many options to choose from, including terrariums that need less attention and watering while still looking beautiful, as well as unique and different gifts for his desk, the house, back yard, etc. (see some ideas at https://www.facebook.com/YardleyFlorist). Call us for ideas, guidance and the latest arrivals at the shop, available for pickup or delivery.
And for the grads? Yardley Florist has beautiful event flowers, including wearable flowers, like wristlets, rings, hair accessories, etc., and a wide variety of gifts, including fresh, fabulous flowers, plants, handmade truffles, or any of our other unique gifts that are sure to please! You can save time by doing all of your gift buying with one simple phone call. Not sure what to send? Ask our experts for their guidance. I wanted to thank you for the incredibly perfect flowers you arranged for my mother’s funeral. The organic arrangement, the gorgeous basket of daisies and the sheaf of wheat were all exactly what we had hoped. My sisters and I were so pleased and we know they would have delighted my mother.
Thank you so much for your talent and the care you put into your work.
Sincerely,
M Family
Lisa,
Just a note to thank you for the lovely flowers you made for our wedding at the Washington Crossing Inn. We were unable to keep them ourselves but we gave them to several of our guests. I spoke with one and she said they were still alive after 3 weeks and a trip to Ohio--the containers worked so well!
Many thanks again-
Sincerely,
A&N

Hi Susan,
The flowers were just beautiful-exactly what I had in mind. My mother was thrilled with the fragrance, and rather than us trying to give the flowers away at the end of the event, people were asking if they could take them. I really love your work, and would be happy to provide recommendations for you anytime!
All the best,
A
Care Info
FRESH FLOWERS
Just like people, a little extra love & care can keep your flowers happy & extend their beauty and lifespan, hence your enjoyment.
All flowers are different - some will last longer than others. Pinch off fading blossoms or remove the stems to keep your bouquets and arrangements looking fresh and lovely.
Flesh cut flowers are living things, and DO NOT like:
- Bacteria - It's like an infection - it weakens the flower and shortens it's life. Keep water fresh, clean and free of leaves and other debris.
- Extremes in temperature - Just like Goldilocks, flowers don't like things too hot or too cold. "Just right" is between 65 and 72 degrees farenheit, away from direct sunlight, heating and cooling vents, directly under ceiling fans, or near televisions or radiators which give off heat.
- Blocked passageways - Flowers get water and nutrition through their stems. If they are blocked or dried out they can not get what they need. Keep the stems in water and give them a fresh cut regularly, preferably under water (when they get a fresh cut, they "take a deep breath." If this "breath" is water, it is what they need and want, and will make them happy. If the "breath" is air, it will cause a little bit of blockage. They are just the opposite of us when we suck in a little bit of water.)
- Bad air - For flowers this means ethylene gas which is released from ripening fruit. This ages the flowers prematurely.
PLANTS
All plants have different needs based on their variety, environment and the season. Follow the care instructions on any tag that comes with your plant, get information from the National Gardening Associatin's website at www.garden.org/plantguide, or call us if you have any questions or need additional information.
